Our Hope Academy House System contributes to the spiritual development of students by creating opportunities for reflection, belonging and connection. Our four houses are named after four ecumenical communities: Taize, Iona, Corrymeela and Othona.
By organising students into smaller communities, the system fosters a sense of identity and encourages students to reflect on values, beliefs and experiences that shape who they are. House Collective Worship, mentoring and charity/service projects provide structured opportunities for students to explore feelings of gratitude, empathy and responsibility, supporting their ability to reflect on their place in the wider world and their connection to others.
Celebrating collective achievements, within the house system, helps pupils appreciate the importance of community and shared purpose, while traditions and rituals provide moments for reflection on meaning beyond the everyday. In this way, the house system actively nurtures spiritual growth, by encouraging students to develop a sense of enjoyment and fascination in learning about themselves, others and the world around them.
