Uniform requirments for new year 7 pupils (september 2016 intake) are as below. These can be purchased from our in-house shop. Other requirments not listed are as below for year 8-11.

Boys Uniform

Blazer

Hope Academy blazer with school badge. Blazers should be worn at all times unless permission is given to remove them.

Jumpers

Black, Hope Academy long sleeved V necked jumper. They should be worn as well as, but not instead of, blazers in the autumn and spring term.

Trousers

Formal black trousers. Please see the examples of acceptable trousers below. They must be black, plain smart trousers. They must not be low rise, skinny fit, tight fitting, denim/jean or chino trousers.

Shirt

Plain white and formal style shirt with a collar (no motifs).  Shirts should be tucked in at all times.

Ties

Correct colour for year group.  Year group ties:-

Year 7 – Plain Blue Clip tie with Gold Logo
Year 8 – Maroon
Year 9 - Blue
Year 10 – Purple
Year 11 – Yellow     Prefect ties – Silver

Shoes

Formal plain black shoes that will take a polish. Students are not permitted to wear black trainers, canvas shoes or boots. Shoes with studs and logos are not permitted. Please see the examples of appropriate and inappropriate footwear.

Trousers

Hope Academy ‘Holyrood’ school skirt or Pinafore dress. The skirt/Pinafore dress needs to be of an appropriate length (see the example below).

PE Kits

Boys PE

Girls’ PE

  • Hope Academy PE polo shirt with school badge
  • Football or rugby boots if appropriate

  • Hair tied back

*Skate shoes are NOT suitable for most PE activities as students can sustain injuries by wearing them.

Students are expected to bring PE kit, even if they are ill or injured.

Students in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 should have a suitable bag that is appropriate for day-to-day use.

Standards of dress include the following
  • Nose studs or any additional piercings are not allowed and students will be asked to remove them, including spacers/retainers/piercings/unauthorised wrist bands.
  • No make-up or tattoos will be accepted.
  • Plain hair accessories in black are acceptable.
  • No patterns, tramlines or extreme hairstyles are permitted.
  • Top buttons on shirts should be fastened and worn with a tie of appropriate length to the waist band.  Shirts tucked in at all times.
  • No nail varnish – natural nails only (including no artificial nails)
  • Outdoor coats, hats, scarves and hoods are not to be worn within the building.
Standards of dress include the following Footwear for girls and boys
Formal, plain black shoes that take a polish are the required footwear. Students are not permitted to wear black trainers or canvas shoes. Shoes with buckles, studs and logos are not permitted. Girls are not permitted to wear boots. Maximum heel height of an inch is acceptable.
