Being kept informed Parents will continue to receive tracking data relating to their child’s progress in lessons 3 times a year, along with a full school report once a year.

A summary of pupil and parent surveys will be published in Newsletters.

Text messages are being used more regularly, along with our new twitter account @Hope_Academy. Some subject areas now also have Twitter accounts including @HopeHumanities and @HopeChaplain

Parents can always contact us by phone or by our email address Hope.Parent@sthelens.org.uk

Newsletter updates News letters are produced every half term. Every pupil at the Academy has a copy to bring home. The newsletter can also be found on our website under the News section.

In our next issue, we will be reporting on the successes of the year, faculty values and, following requests from parents, information on core subjects.

Parents Evening Many thanks for all of your  comments about your child’s progress. We are pleased to see so many parents comment of how confident your children are becoming and the strong relationships that are being formed with teachers.

Thank you for all the written comments that speak so highly of the Academy. Staff at the Academy are proud to be dedicated to your children’s education.

Homework Projects

The VLE is currently being developed and we are planning to distribute individual parent usernames from September 2013. We are trialling an electronic feedback system with the year 8 ICT project which is due to be set the first week of July. Parents will be able to login using your child’s current details and find out the level achieved for the project along with teacher feedback.

From September 2013, KS3 pupils will be set weekly Maths and English homework; all other Subject areas will be set 3 week projects according to the timetable. Teaching staff will set additional activities and challenges related to the content of their subject if and when required. All assignments include assessment criteria to ‘exceptional performance’.

There are week commencing dates on the VLE homepage for each year group. We will ensure all future projects have a week commencing start date and week ending date included on the project brief. We are unable to put a specific start and end date as this differs according to which day of the week your child has the subject/teacher.

Learning Environment Thank you for your comments on pupils’ varied learning styles being encouraged in lessons. We will continue to fix any Year 7 laptop issues as a priority.
